Check here for 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup complete schedule, time table, venues, fixtures. The International Cricket Council today confirmed the schedule of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, which will be staged in England and Wales from 30 May, 2019 to 14 July, 2019.
The International Cricket Council has announced the schedule for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, which will be held in England and Wales from May 30 to July 14. Hosts England will take on South Africa at The Oval on 30 May. Defending champions Australia will kick off their title defence on 1 June against ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier champions Afghanistan with a day/night match in Bristol.
Pakistan, the current ICC Champions Trophy winners, will begin their campaign against the ICC World Twenty20 winners West Indies at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on 31 May. India, who won the championship in 1983 and 2011, will play their opening match on 5 June against South Africa at the Hampshire Bowl in Southampton. The high-class India-Pakistan will be at Old Trafford in Manchester on 16 June.
The two semi-finals will be played at Old Trafford in Manchester and Edgbaston in Birmingham on 9 and 11 July. The big final will be played at Lord’s on 14 July. All the three knockout matches will have reserve days.
A total of 11 venues will be used for the tournament that will last 46 days. The tournament will be played in the round-robin format with each team playing each other once. After 45 matches, the top four teams will head to the semi-finals. Old Trafford in Manchester will host maximum six matches, while Edgbaston in Birmingham, Hampshire Bowl in Southampton, Lord’s and The Oval, and Trent Bridge in Nottingham will play host to five matches each. Cardiff Wales Stadium in Cardiff and Headingley in Leeds have been given four matches each. County Ground Bristol in Bristol, County Ground Taunton in Taunton and The Riverside in Chester-le-Street will host three matches each.
ICC Chief Executive David Richardson was quoted as saying on the official website, "It’s always an exciting moment ahead of any major event to announce the schedule and for the ICC Cricket World Cup. Next summer fans around the world will be treated to compelling and competitive cricket as the best teams in the world go head to head in this round-robin format for the right to be crowned World Champions.
There are some fantastic head-to-head fixtures – England v Australia at Lord’s and India v Pakistan at Old Trafford as well as England v India at Edgbaston spring to mind. As organisers we can promise the teams and fans we will work hard to provide the perfect stage for this event.

The group stage format is a round-robin, where all ten teams play each other once, in a single group. This means a total of 45 matches will be played, with each team playing a total of nine matches. The top four teams from the group will progress to the knockout stage.
