Babar, Rizwan break record during semi-final against New Zealand
Both batters scored a half-century each against the Kiwis
SYDNEY: Pakistan opening duo of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan broke a record during the Men in Green's T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final clash against New Zealand at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Wednesday.
The Kiwis posted a modest 152 runs, thanks to a crucial half-century from Daryl Mitchell and a 46-run knock from skipper Kane Williamson.
In pursuit of the target, Babar and Rizwan put on yet another 50-plus partnership, which helped the batters break a T20 World Cup record of most 50-plus partnerships.
With their crucial stand, the duo managed to cross the 50-run mark five times, overtaking four batting partners.

Babar and Rizwan have not been up to their best in this edition of the World Cup, as they scored 39 and 103 runs in five Super 12 matches.
However, the batters delivered when it mattered the most. After their dismal run in the Super 12s, the two batters scored half-centuries each in a bid to book a spot in the mega-final of the event.
Moreover, Babar and Rizwan reached another milestone during their outstanding partnership against the Black Caps after completing their ninth 100-run stand in T20Is.
It must be noted that Rizwan is currently ranked second in T20I batters, while the Pakistan skipper is placed fourth in the rankings.
